Services for Joy Martin, 86, of Temple will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple with the Rev. Stephen Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Martin died Saturday, Aug. 23, at her residence.
She was born July 18, 1922, in Snyder to Ernest Wilson and Effie Ida Hodnit Gregg. She grew up on various farms in West Texas. After graduating from McCaulley High School in 1940, she entered the Scott and White School of Nursing and graduated in 1946. She married Frank Green “F.G.” Martin on Oct. 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She worked as a registered nurse in College Station and Scott & White Memorial and King’s Daughters hospitals. She was a secretary at Frank G. Martin, Jr. Engineering and Surveying. In 1972 they moved to their farm on Bottoms Road and raised registered cattle and quarter horses. She was a member of 7th Street United Methodist (now Oak Park United Methodist). She served on many church boards, in the woman’s circle and the “birthday girls.” She was a member of the Garden Club and volunteered as an election polling official.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Merrill of Burnet; a son, Danny Martin of Lakeway; a sister, Iris Bedwell of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
