Justice of the Peace David Barfield pronounced Jamie Lujan dead at 6:55 a.m.
Temple Police Department detectives will meet with the Bell County District Attorney this morning to discuss upgrading charges from aggravated assault to murder or capital murder, Allen Teston, Temple Police Department public information officer, said on Monday.
Andrew Nathaniel Hamilton and Anthony Jerome Thomas remain in Bell County jail charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the case. A third person, a 16-year-old, is being held at a juvenile facility.
On Friday, Judge Barfield set bond for $750,000 each for Hamilton and Thomas.
Barfield said the body would be transported to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for an autopsy.
Lujan was shot multiple times Thursday when three men entered the office of the Emerald Garden Apartments located on West Elm Street. He underwent surgery that day, according to officials.
After being holed up in a unit at a neighboring apartment complex, the three suspects surrendered to police.
