Services for Flora “Dea” Myrtle Hutchinson Wright, 83, of Temple will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church in Temple with Dr. U.C. Barnes Sr., and the Rev. Davy K. Wright officiating.
Burial will follow in Temple Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright died Monday, Sept. 1, in a Temple hospital.
She was born Aug. 24, 1925, to Preston and Orvella Chatman Hutchinson in Waxahachie. She attended school in Pelham and Hubbard, graduating from Hubbard High School in 1941, at the age of 16. She married John B. “J.B.” Wright on June 9, 1943, in Waxahachie and soon moved to Temple. She was an active member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including the president of the Mission Chorus and member of Mission 1.
Before retiring, she worked at the Kyle Hotel and Scott & White Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, John H. Wright Sr., and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Davy K. Wright of Temple; four daughters, Phillis Woosley of Fayetteville, N.C., Linda Bradford of Conyers, Ga., Angia DeVore of Basrah, Iraq and Rhonda Russell of Conyers, Ga.; a sister, Mattie Graves of Waco; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Public viewing will be noon to 7 p.m. today, with family visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hornsby-Murcherson Funeral Home in Temple.
The body will be at the church one hour prior to service.
