CAMERON — William F. “Bill” Arthur, 89, of Cameron died Friday, Sept. 5, at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron with David Barrett and Jim Lafferty officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Arthur was born April 9, 1919, to W.E. and Eula Mae Southward Arthur in Itasca. He graduated from Itasca High School and attended Texas A&M for more than 3 years before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He married Mary Frances Neale on Sept. 2, 1944, in Denton. He moved to Cameron in 1945, where he taught Ag at the G.I. School, before he began teaching vocational Ag at Yoe High School. He worked in insurance 1951-1990, for Farm Bureau as the Agent in Cameron, and then retiring with Kay Raymond Traveler Insurance Agency. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon, and was a member of the San Andres Masonic Lodge in Cameron for more than 65 years. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara Barrett of Waco and Ann Perrin of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Eugene Arthur of Itasca and Grady Arthur of Searcy, Ark.; two sisters, Eula Ruth Gard of Spring and Julia Ann Cleveland of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
