No local services are planned for Mary Rita Hughes, 83, of Moody.

Mrs. Hughes died Saturday, Sept. 6, in a local hospital.

She was born Sept. 12, 1924, to Drexel Louis and Bessie Mae Debien LaValley in Mowria, N.Y. In 1985, she retired from Gould Electronics, where she was a technician.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary in New York. She was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Massena, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Hughes, William Potter and Carl Fiacco.

Survivors include two sons, David Hughes of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Michael Hughes; two daughters, Marie Drake of Moody and Cathy Hughes; two brothers, James LaValley of Massena, N.Y., and Harold LaValley of Shortsville, N.Y.; and two sisters, Charlotte French of Brasher Falls, N.Y., and Patricia Pennington of Newberry, S.C.
