KILLEEN — Graveside services for Walter Campbell, 72, of Killeen will be 2 p.m. Friday in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
Mr. Campbell died Monday, Sept. 15, in a local hospital.
He was born March 4, 1936, to Felix and Jessie Campbell in Hernando, Miss. He retired after 29 years of service with the U.S. Army, leaving with the rank of master sergeant. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster; Good Conduct Medal, 7th award; Army of Occupation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; two Overseas Bars; Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with palm; Army Service Ribbon; three Overseas Service Ribbons; and two NCO Officer Development Ribbons. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gunther Campbell and Ricky Campbell.
Survivors include his wife Monika Campbell of Killeen; three sons, Mirko Campbell of Arlington, Sasch Campbell of Fort Worth and Walter Campbell of Monterey, Calif; a daughter, Monic Campbell of Killeen; and five grandchildren.
Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
