Services for Harry Q. Cole, 89, of Temple will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Alwine officiating.
Burial will follow at the Floca Memorial Pavilion in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Cole died Tuesday, Sept. 16, a local hospital.
He was born May 18, 1919, to Will I. and Ruby Bacon Cole in Killeen. He attended Temple Junior College, and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Howard Payne College in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving bomb disposal duty. Later, he was on the first Underwater Demolition Team (Navy Frogmen). He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He served the Central Texas community as an elected member of the Temple College Board of Trustees for 30 years. He was past president and life member of the Lions Club. He spent decades as a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor in aquatics and an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. He served on both the Temple and Texas Parks and Recreation Committees; he was a vestryman and treasurer at Christ Episcopal Church, a member of the Temple Elks Lodge, a Masonic Lodge member and an American Legion Post Director.
Survivors include his wife Myra McCormick Cole of Temple; two daughters, Dawn Cole of Toronto, Canada, and Donna Huffman of Morgan’s Point Resort; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
