Dallas McCracken, a fourth-grader at Temple Education Center, soaps the window of a police car Friday. Jason Osborne, campus director at the Education Center on Avenue B, is always thinking of ways to make the students aware that the police are there to help them. Children invited Temple police officers to bring their cars to the school for a good washing. Lots of laughs were provided when police let off sirens and flashed their lights while the kids worked. “Often in movies and on television police are portrayed badly and we wanted to show the kids that that isn’t normal,” Osborne said. “It gave the kids a chance to build a good rapport with local police, and the police seemed to enjoy it too.” (Hans Rosemond/Telegram)
