LAMPASAS — Services for Lester Ray Rhodes, 78, of Lampasas will be at a later date.
The body will be cremated.
Mr. Rhodes died Thursday, Sept. 18, at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1929, to Clyde C. Rhodes and Iris Rogers Rhodes in Wingate. He married Mary Ann Contreras on Oct. 18, 1947, in Vacaville, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He went on to be the commander of the Clark County Sheriff’s Aero Squadron in Las Vegas. He was a member of the Aircraft Pilots of Metropolitan Oakland, Calif., the California Council of Aviation Associations, the Western States Sheriff’s Air Squadrons and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years of Lampasas; a son, Curtis William Rhodes of Las Vegas; two daughters, Iris Diana Fisch and Rebecca Ann Snyder, both of Lampasas; a brother, C.W. Rhodes of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.
Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas is in charge of arrangements.
