ARLINGTON — Services for Joseph Lawson “J.L.” Drake, 72, of Arlington were held Monday, Sept. 22, at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington.
Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Drake died Friday, Sept. 19, in Fort Worth.
He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Westmoreland, Calif., to Dorothy and Charles Drake. He was a surveyor in Texas for much of his life. After his retirement from the city of Fort Worth Civil Engineering Department, he was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ and worked with the church’s Hearts and Hands benevolence program.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Drake.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Drake of Arlington; two sons, Jeff Drake of Haltom City and Joey Drake of Fort Worth; his stepmother, Ruth Drake of Belton; four brothers, Charles Drake, Anthony Drake, Lawrence Drake, all of Belton, and David Drake of Valley Mills; two sisters, Paulette Hitt and Charlotte Cehand, both of Belton; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ Hearts and Hands Program.
Arrangements are being handled by Greenwood Funeral Home in Arlington.
