LAMPASAS — Memorial services for John A. Thorp, 87, of Lampasas will be held at a later date in Kansas.

Mr. Thorp died Monday, Sept. 22, in an area nursing home.

He was born March 16, 1921, in Kansas. He married Betty Louise Harman in 1953 in Kansas City, Kan. After college he served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Westinghouse as an engineer. He then began his own business, Gas Turbine Controls.

Survivors include a niece and a nephew.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
