LAMPASAS — Services for Melvin Alonzo Hibler, 90, of Kempner will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with the Rev. Benny Hibler and Rev. Don Casper officiating.
Burial will follow in Oatmeal Cemetery in Burnet County.
Mr. Hibler died Wednesday, Sept. 24, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Feb. 5, 1918, to Benjamin Warden Hibler and Annie Pearl Sexton Hibler in Burnet County. He graduated from Oatmeal High School in 1936. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After being discharged in 1945, he returned to Houston and began working for the U.S. Postal service. In 1962, he moved to Central Texas and worked at Fort Hood. He retired in 1975. He married Easter Lilly Reynolds on Aug. 21, 1964. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kempner.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years of Kempner; a stepdaughter, Doris Buchanan of Brazioria; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
