ROCKDALE — Services for Ray Louis Ramsey Sr., 83, of Lexington will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tanglewood Baptist Church in Tanglewood with the Rev. Johnny Menges and Rev. Charles Nicholson officiating.
Burial will follow in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood.
Mr. Ramsey died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1925, to Grady Louis and Erma Loraine Mathis Ramsey in Waller. He married Dorothy Fay Gates on Feb. 19, 1944, in Corpus Christi. He was a stationary engineer for Schlumberger Oil Services. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman first class. He was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Ramsey and Lyndon Ramsey; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years of Lexington; four sons, Ray L. Ramsey Jr., Brady Ramsey and Tim Ramsey Sr., all of Lexington, and Doug Ramsey Sr. of Verden, Okla.; two brothers, Louis Ramsey of Liberty and Angel Ramsey of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Viola Scallons of The Woodlands and Lorene Oakley of Schulenburg; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington.
