GATESVILLE — Services for Quinton Barnett, 74, of Gatesville will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the Coryell Community Church with the Rev. Walter Davidson officiating.
Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at his home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1934, to Chlora Blacklock Barnett and the late Johnny Barnett in Coryell County. He grew up in the Slater community attending school there and in Gatesville, where he graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953. He married Elaine Bruton on July 29, 1955. He worked for Phillips Petroleum and as a pastor builder of churches for E.O. Hartwell in Texas, New Mexico and Wisconsin. In 1962, he started his business, Quinton’s Auto Parts, which he owned and operated with his sons, later known as Quinton and Sons Inc. He served in the Texas Army National Guard and served active duty in the early 1960s. He was a member and elder of Coryell Community Church. He served on the Gatesville City Council and was a member of the Gatesville Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years of Gatesville; two sons, Mark Barnett and Lynn Barnett, both of Gatesville; a daughter, Eliese Barnett of Lampasas; a brother, Roger Barnett of the Ater Community; his mother; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coryell Community Church Youth Program, 115 North Levita Road, Gatesville, 76528.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Gatesville Funeral Home in Gatesville.
