GIDDINGS — Services for Roland Henry Namken, 87 of Giddings will be 11 a.m. today at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings.

Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Mr. Namken died Tuesday, Sept. 23.

He was born Jan. 10, 1921, to the late Gustav and Ella Bergt Namken. He attended New Oldenburg Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 1942-45. He worked for the Lower Colorado Electric Company. Later, he worked for the LCRA/Blue Bonnet Electric Coop, retiring in 1986. He married Joyce Toppel on May 27, 1946. He served on the church council and was an usher for Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by two great-grandsons.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years; two daughters, Karen Behrens of Yoakum and Peggy Schaefer of Salado; a brother, Harry Namken of Giddings; a sister, Louise Medack of Giddings; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Building Fund or to Brazos Valley Hospice.

Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings is in charge of arrangements.
