Mr. Jones was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Melbourne, Australia, to William A. and Rose (Powell) Jones. In 1940, he married Mary Damanche in St. Louis, Mo., and she preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a chief aviation machinist mate. He worked as a machinist for Union Carbide in Port Lavaca for 25 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Reichert of Temple; two sons, William Jones of Foster, R.I., and Thomas Jones of Nolanville; a sister, Frances Bliss of Missouri; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
