Burial will be in Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Elmer G. and Henrietta Hentz. He was educated in the Diocese of Cincinnati, and then six years in Rome, Italy. He graduated into the ministry for the Catholic Church. He served six years in his home diocese of Cincinnati, then entered the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps, serving for 32 more years. He retired a full colonel and in 1986 married Mary (Clark) Hentz. He was preceded in death by two infants. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran, earning the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation with V for valor. He was selected to attend the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pa., graduating in 1982. He was also a member of American Legion Post 223 in Killeen.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, William G. Hentz and Thomas Hentz, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jerome P. Hentz of Bedford; and a sister, Mary Ann Krommer of Fla.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights.
