Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. McGuire died Tuesday, Sept. 30, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1920, to Alvis Lee and Lyrlyne Coleman McGuire in Milam County. He was a 1939 graduate of Rockdale High School. He joined the U.S. Army as a volunteer for the 101st Airborne and served with the 82nd Airborne in Sicily. He received two Purple Hearts.
He married Julia Helen Fuller on March 12, 1945, in Itasca. He was the founded McGuire Tire Service in June of 1947and retired in 1985. He remained active in business until 1998. He was a member of the Son’s of the American Revolution and the Convention for the 82nd Airborne as well as Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Son’s of the American Revolution Scholarship Fund, 1000 South Forth Street, Louisville, Ky. 40208.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
