Glenn R. Baird

BELTON —Glenn Ray Baird, 83, of Belton died Wednesday, Oct. 1, at his home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Dossman Funeral Home of Belton with the Rev. Sam Callaway officiating.

Private burial will be in McDowell Cemetery.

Mr. Baird was born Aug. 5, 1925, to Fredrick Ray and Winnie Clapp Baird in Santa Rita, N.M. He moved to Bell County in 1955, from Lampasas. He married Dotty Mc Daniel on April 3, 1943, in Mercedes. He was a rancher and was a pioneer member of the Beefmaster Association and of the Cattleman’s Association. He worked for the WCID No. 1 water-processing plant for 18 years. He was a member of the Belton Masonic Lodge, was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years of Belton; four sons, Glenn Baird, Gary Baird and Craig Baird, all of Belton and Rex Baird of Nolanville; two brothers, Rex Baird and Bob Baird, both of Goldthwaite; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Texas Crippled Children’s Center, 2000 Marlandwood Road, Temple, Texas 76502.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
