WASHINGTON - Signed and sealed, the $700 billion bailout now must be delivered.
After 14 days, three votes and billions of dollars in stock market losses to get the massive financial rescue through Congress, the government is rushing to develop a plan for spending the money.
U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, House conference secretary, opposed for the second time in five days the Wall Street bailout bill, which passed the House by a vote of 263-171 on Friday.
The measure passed the Senate earlier this week.
Whether it comes from the bottle or the tap, for the water drinker, the choice is always clear.
Some people prefer to drink their water straight from the tap while others walk around all day with a plastic bottle in their hands. Other H2O “hybrids” start their day with a sealed plastic bottle, then periodically refill with tap water.
FORT HOOD - Change abounds on the nation´s largest military post. There´s more transparency and it´s more open to the public.
Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, Fort Hood´s top commander, took over the reins 10 short weeks ago from Gen. Ray Odierno, who now leads coalition forces in Iraq.

Beginning in the mid-1970s and continuing into the early 1990s, the powerful Temple Wildcats routinely thrashed perennial lightweight Copperas Cove by scores such as 70-0, 65-0 and 37-0.
But Jack Welch showed up at Cove in 1994, beat Temple 7-0 in his first try, and now his Bulldawgs are displaying dominance reminiscent of that from the Wildcats´ heyday.
BELTON - Quarterback David Ash put Belton in position for its first victory of the season. The Tigers´ defense made sure they got it.
Senior defensive back Justin Jefferson broke up a fourth-down pass in the end zone with 36 seconds left as Belton came from behind to beat Killeen Shoemaker 34-30 in a thrilling homecoming Friday night at Tiger Field.
BELTON - For all that´s been made of Mary Hardin-Baylor´s more balanced offensive scheme and Hardin-Simmons´ potent aerial attack, this clash will likely be decided on the ground.
History tends to repeat itself.
TROY - Derrick Vasta ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns to pace a Troy offense that rushed for almost 500 yards as the Trojans plundered the previously unbeaten Crawford Pirates 49-28 on Friday night at Trojan Field.
Troy improved its season record to 3-2 and its District 16-2A mark to 2-0 with its third consecutive win over Crawford. The Pirates dropped to 4-1, 1-1.
LITTLE RIVER-ACADEMY - Tyler Moon isn´t bashful. He wants to be the one that earns the Academy Bumblebees´ coveted Hammer Award.
“I got a couple pretty good shots in there,” Moon said with a sly smile.
SALADO - If real estate is all about location, then perhaps the football equivalent is all about field position.
Throughout the first half, the Salado Eagles were the recipients of prime turf and they maximized its value to steamroll Jarrell, 51-9, Friday night at Eagle Stadium in a District 25-2A game.
Jeremiah Bergert scored four touchdowns to lead Central Texas Christian past Holy Trinity Catholic in a non-district six-man game Friday night at Frazee Field.
The game was halted at halftime because of the 45-point mercy rule.
WACO - While being No. 1 is a new experience for the current group of Oklahoma Sooners, it won´t change the way Bob Stoops and his team approach a game.
“I´m not going to sit here and act like it´s a horrible thing, but we´re not sitting here jumping up and down either,” Stoops said. “The bottom line is this is what we´ve done to this point in the year, and all that matters now is what we do this week.”
