Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with military honors.
Mr. Martinez died Saturday, Oct. 4, in a Houston hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1946, to Mike and Amparo Lerma Martinez in Temple. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Julia Hall in June 2003. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of Temple; his mother; a son, Joel Martinez of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; three daughters, Desiree Martinez of Fresno, Calif., April Black of Minden, Nev., and Christina Martinez of Dayton, Nev.; a brother, Jesus Jimenez Jr. of Temple; six sisters, Irene Reyes, Suzanne Strege, Sandra Jimenez and Cynthia Carr, all of Temple, and Guadalupe Martinez and Jessica Booth, both of Southern California; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
