Mr. Lyles died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at his home.
He was born on April 3, 1931, to James Ollie Lyles and Dora A. Norman Lyles in Lexington. He made and sold jewelry to schools, and to Balfour Class Rings and became their supervisor. He then worked for an electronic manufacturer for 20 years. He married Barbara Sue Wilson Onken Lyles on Sept. 10, 1975, in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lyles on May 1, 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years of Rosharon; a son, Billy Lyles of Salem, Ore.; two stepsons, Darren Onken of Rosharon and Terry Onken of Dayton; a stepdaughter, Lisa Porter of Dublin; a sister, Lila Mills of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Helping Hands & Hearts Hospice, 412 Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson 77566.
Visitation will be noon today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
