Floyd J. Herring

Services for Floyd James Herring, 81, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Herring died Thursday, Oct. 9, at his home.

He was born May 16, 1927, to John W. Herring Sr. and Dovie Nevada Hubble Herring in Oglesby. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lillian Bishop on July 18, 1946. He was a self-employed carpenter in the construction business. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years; a son, Jerry Herring of Harker Heights; three daughters, Connie Ruth Larson and Rosemary “Kathy” Holladay, both of Temple, and Debra Mitchell of Lubbock; a brother, Billy Herring of Gatesville; a sister, Helen Herring of Gatesville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
