ROSEBUD — Services for John Albert Tarver III, 66, of Stafford, formerly of Rosebud, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud with the Rev. Walter Chelmo officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud.

Mr. Tarver died Friday, Oct. 17, in a Houston hospital.

He was born Sept. 5, 1942, to John Albert and Lily Simek Tarver Jr. in Fort Worth. He grew up in Rosebud and attended Rosebud schools. He graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., and Texas Christian University. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He married Sally Schrom on April 2, 1966. He was a third generation president of the Planters National Bank in Rosebud and worked in sales for Home Depot in Sugarland.

Survivors include his wife of Stafford; two daughters, Jennifer Tarver of Houston and Jill Stoneburner of Katy; a brother, Bill Tarver of San Antonio; a sister, Gail Tarver of Rosebud; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
