Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mr. Bales was born Nov. 2, 1930, to George Bales and Elizabeth Baker Bales in Lampasas. He married Martha Campbell on Feb. 2, 1965, in Lake Victor. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked as a firefighter at Fort Hood, retiring after 30 years of service. He later worked for Paul’s Electric. He was a member of the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Dee Ann Bales.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Hair of Lampasas; a brother, Harvey Bales of Killeen; a sister, Georgia Alsbrook of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
