Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Oct. 18, in a Lubbock nursing home.
She was born June 8, 1923, to Marion and Nell Davis Miller in Fort Worth. She married Kenneth H. Jones in 1945, in Cleburne. While attending Texas Christian University, she was assistant to the Executive Director of Christian Women’s Fellowships in Texas. She worked as a secretary for the Brasosport School System in Freeport before moving to Temple in 1950. She worked as a secretary for the First Christian Church in Temple and for the State Soil and Water Conservation Board. She moved to Lubbock in 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 6, 1995; and a granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth Duke on Oct. 29, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Holder of Lubbock and Kathy Duke of Austin; a sister, Martha Owens of Burleson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made in memory of (granddaughter) Emma Elizabeth Duke to Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation in care of Any Baby Can of Austin Inc., 1121 East 7th, Austin, 78702.
Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
