Mr. Oas died Sunday, Oct. 26, in a Killeen hospital.
He was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Menomonie, Wis. and educated in Waukesha, Wis. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and served in Vietnam. His military awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal sixth award; National Defense Service Medal with one service star; Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars; NCO Professional Development Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon with No. 4; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; Driver/Mechanic Badge with Driver-W; Expert Rifle; Pistol and Grenade Badge. Upon retirement in 1993 he went to work for the city of Killeen driving a solid waste truck; he retired after 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Killeen; a son, Harold Oas of Temple; a daughter, Angela Oas-Morello of Las Vegas, Nev; a brother, Richard Oas of Milwaukee, Wis; and a grandchild.
