Tipton E. Benjamin

LAMPASAS — Private services for Tipton Ellis Benjamin, 81, of Lometa will be held at a later date.

The body will be cremated.

Mr. Benjamin died Thursday, Oct. 30, in a Lampasas hospital.

He was born Oct. 13, 1927, to Erwin Franklin and Susie Aldrich Franklin in Ada, Okla. He was raised by Susie and Charles Benjamin. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during World War II. He later was a purchasing agent for the Marines Corps in Arizona for 16 years. He then began driving long haul trucks. He was a Presbyterian, serving as an elder and singing in the choir.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Benjamin of Lometa; a son, Greg Benjamin of Colorado; two daughters, Val Thomas of Rhode Island and Saundra Wilhite of Lubbock; three step-children; Patricia Ditmore of Abilene, CountryRoberts of Coleman and Debbie Fortner of Lometa; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and step-grandchildren.

Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas is in charge of arrangements.
