Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gatesville Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 6, 1927, to the late Homer Davis Sr. and Estelle Reese Davis in Cuero. He graduated from Patti Welder High School in Victoria and attended Victoria Junior College and Southwest Texas State Teachers College. He received a degree in business administration from Cornell University in New York. He worked 51 years for H.E.B., winning many honors and awards as a store director. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of the D.A.V. and a member of the American Legion. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gatesville, teaching Sunday school and serving as chairman of the deacons and a permanent trustee of the church. He also was active in the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nelva Jean Davis of Gatesville; three daughters, Vicky Lynn Hunt and Jayne Mitchell, both of Waco, and Marcella Jean Hall of Gatesville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 912 E. Main Street, Gatesville, 76528 or to the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
