Margaret M. Harry

KILLEEN — Services for Margaret “Maggie” Mary McDonagh Harry, 87, of Houston, formerly of Harker Heights and Killeen, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

Burial will follow in Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Harry died Tuesday, Nov. 4, in a Houston hospital.

She was born on July 1, 1921, to William McDonagh and Mary Monaghan McDonagh in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland. She was raised by her aunt, Ms. Bina Kelly. She left Ireland for England at the outbreak of World War II where she served as an ambulance driver in the British Royal Air Force. In 1950, she married Master Sgt. Andrew Jackson “Jack” Harry. While living in the Fort Hood area, she worked for the Killeen Independent School District as the manager of the cafeteria at Nolan Junior High School from 1966 until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Good Sam Club, the Lone Star Travelers Chapter, Friends International and the Retired Teachers Association. She was Irish Catholic. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard “Buddy” Harry.

Survivors include two sons, David Harry of Katy and Allen Harry of Houston; and a daughter, Barbara Patrick of Houston; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
