The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close Interstate 35 travel lanes and detour traffic at the intersection of I-35 and South Loop 363 in Temple tonight and Tuesday, weather permitting.

Northbound I-35 travel lanes will detour to the frontage road at Exit 299 in Temple from 10 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Southbound I-35 travel lanes will detour to the frontage road at Exit 299 from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Mockingbird Lane and Brooklawn Drive will be closed at the northbound I-35 service road (General Bruce Drive) tonight beginning at 7. The streets will remain closed until Wednesday at 6 a.m. in response to the I-35 lane closures.

Temple police will assist with local traffic control through the work zone.

The temporary lane closures will allow construction crews to set bridge beams for the Loop 363 flyover at that interchange, a $68.4 million project that is projected to be completed in spring 2009.

TxDOT advises motorists to seek alternate routes or plan trips accordingly due to anticipated congestion and delays on I-35 during the overnight hours of these temporary closures.
