Bert Judd Engle

TAYLOR — Private services for Bert “Train Man” Judd Engle, 85, of Taylor will be Friday in Taylor City Cemetery.

Mr. Engle died Tuesday, Nov. 11, in a Bartlett nursing home.

He was born June 6, 1923, to L.F. and Pauline Engle in San Antonio. He was employed by the Missouri Kansas Texas (Katy) Railroad for 38 years. He worked many years in the Katy Tower and Depot in Taylor where he continued the movements of the train’s safety crossing with the use of a manual lever. He was an officer in the Transportation Communication Union and a lifetime member. He was also a member of the Disciples of Christ Church in Taylor, where he served as an elder, Sunday school superintendent and children’s worship service leader. He played the pipe organ by ear for their services.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Cleone Engle of Taylor; two daughters, Suzanne Sebek of Taylor and Rosemary Faulkner; two brothers, Frank Engle of Temple and Francis Engle of Taylor; a sister, Rose Marie Engle of Temple; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
