The body was cremated.
Mr. Marek died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1939, to Raymond and Vlasta Marek in Seaton. He graduated high school and joined the U.S. Army and also served in the Army Reserve and the National Guard. He married Cindy Cato on Dec. 30, 1986. He worked as a tile contractor. He was a member of Ocker Brethren Church.
Survivors include his wife of Burlington; five sons, Gene J. Marek Jr. of Temple, Alan L. Marek and Michael M. Marek, both of San Antonio, Rodney G. Marek of Zabcikville and Roger A. Harris of Gastonia, N.C.; five sisters, Doris Coots and Patsy Baker, both of Zabcikville, Ramona Gerich of Cyclone, Angela Griggs of Pflugerville and Bernice Sebek of Red Ranger; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
