Burial will follow in Moffat Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Thompson died Friday, Nov. 14, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1947, to Lois and Minnie Etta Richards Thompson in Cedar Creek. He graduated from Troy High School in 1966. He attended Temple College and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War receiving the Purple Heart, Sharpshooter Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Army Commendations Medal. He worked for Texas Instruments for many years and also for Double T Construction for 10 years. He was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Moody.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Thompson of Belton; two sons, Greg Thompson of Plano and Steven Thompson of Waco; three step-sons, Ryan Wiens of Temple, and David Wiens and Brady Wiens, both of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, Earl Thompson of Moody, Mitchell Thompson of Belton and Harold Thompson of Temple; seven sisters, Mattie Thompson, Barbara Lane, Mary Thompson and Shirley Vybiral, all of Moody, Neecie Campbell and Margaret Allman, both of Temple and Dorothy Butler of Belton; and his mother of Temple.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
