Mr. Hanes died Friday, Nov. 14, in a Temple hospital.
He was born May 6, 1927, in Wichita Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Troy 12 years ago. He was a parts representative for General Motors and had worked for Henna Chevrolet in Austin. He later became a greeter for Wal-Mart in Temple. He was a Baptist and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Williams of Troy; and three stepsons, Dr. Thomas Hicks of San Antonio, Gerald Hicks of Troy and Bruce Forgy of Mohamett.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
