Mr. Trevino died Sunday, Nov. 16, in a Temple hospital.
He was born July 20, 1948, in Belton to Abelardo Trevino Sr. and Luciana Nieto Trevino. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Army. While he was stationed in Kentucky he completed his bachelor’s degree. He continued working on his master’s degree after leaving the Army in 1977. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include a son, Gene L. “Poppy” McGahan of Troy; three daughters, Lisa Marie Martinez of Temple, Melinda M. Pena of San Diego and Juanita Johnson of Rowlett; three brothers, Joe Trevino Sr. of Dallas and Henry N. Trevino and Richard N. Trevino, both of Temple; and 10 sisters, Luciana T. Lopez of Georgetown, Juanita Clark of Wilmer, Dolores K. Meakins of Beeville, Hope Stifflemire of Lexington, Beatrice Rash of Stump Creek, Pa., Sheila De La Vega of Freer, Candace Lindeman and Erlinda Alvardo, both of Temple, Dora Sandlin of Belton and Sherri Feeser of El Paso.
