His ashes will be placed in the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery north east of Cameron.
Dr. Yager died in Nov. 13.
He was born on July 27, 1923, to Edgar Bowman and Annie Short Yager on the family farm in Jones Prairie in Milam County. He grew up on the farm and attended Jones Prairie and Cameron schools. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He attended the University of Texas, receiving bachelor’s degree in business in 1947, a master’s degree in professional accounting in 1949, and received his doctorate in business administration in 1957 from Indiana University. He married Jeanne Schussele on June 13, 1953.
In 1955, he began his teaching career at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He was named the C. Rollin Niswonger Professor of Accountancy. He was a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and Ohio.
He retired in 1988, and moved to Georgetown, Texas. He was active in the First United Methodist Church, the Heritage Society, Optimist Club, Men’s Garden Club, and the Natural History Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Elizabeth Glass of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Lois Marie Yager of Houston and Laura Jeanne Zimmerman of Georgetown; two brothers, H.M. Yager of Cameron and Billy Yager of San Marcos; a sister, Peggy Marion of Seguin; and four granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Georgetown; Miami University, Oxford, Ohio 44056, for the E. Ben Yager Accountancy Scholarship; or the Oxford United Methodist Church, 14 N. Poplar, Oxford, Ohio 45056.
Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown is in charge of local arrangements.
