Belton boys roll past Stephenville; Wildcats, Tem-Cats suffer defeats

BELTON - Saquonne Crump and Michael Huddleston turned in double-digit point production, and Belton held Stephenville to single digits in each of the middle two quarters en route to a 57-39 victory Friday night at Tiger Gym.

Crump scored 12 points and Huddleston added 10 for the Tigers (1-1), who held a 40-24 lead after three quarters.

“Our defensive effort was great and we corrected the problems that we had (in the season opener),” said second-year Belton coach John Osborn, who notched his first home win with the Tigers. “We had a third-quarter lead the other night and couldn’t hold it. But tonight, the guys did a great job of staying within themselves and closing out the game.”

Temple downed by Leander, 62-45
