Crump scored 12 points and Huddleston added 10 for the Tigers (1-1), who held a 40-24 lead after three quarters.
“Our defensive effort was great and we corrected the problems that we had (in the season opener),” said second-year Belton coach John Osborn, who notched his first home win with the Tigers. “We had a third-quarter lead the other night and couldn’t hold it. But tonight, the guys did a great job of staying within themselves and closing out the game.”
Eric Braeuer and Sean Voss had nine points apiece for Belton, which will host Waco at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Temple downed by Leander, 62-45
Temple suffered a 62-45 loss to Leander on Friday night at Wildcat Gym.
The Wildcats (0-2) will be in action again at 8 p.m. Tuesday when they host Austin Reagan.

Temple falls to Robinson, 61-42
ROBINSON - Temple couldn’t get past Robinson on Friday night, suffering a 61-42 loss.
The Tem-Cats (5-3) got 22 points and eight rebounds from Shantae Hewins. Loryn Goodwin added 13 points for Temple, which will host Waco University at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.
