Mrs. Holbert died Sunday, Nov. 23, in Killeen.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1936 to the late Willie Mae Simpson and William H. Simpson in Louisville, Ky. She graduated from Central High School in Louisville. She moved to Killeen in 1963. She worked as transportation assistant in the Transportation Division of Directorate of Logistics, III Corp., at Fort Hood 1966-1997, where she received numerous awards for outstanding services including the Commanders Award for Civil Service. She retired after 31 years of service. She was preceded in death by her son, Reneldo Childress.
Survivors include two sons, Dana Webb and Dwayne Webb; three daughters Victoria Arevalo, Andrea Webb and Cheryl Grier; five brothers, Ivan Simpson, Reneau Simpson, Cortez Simpson, William Childress Jr. and Robert Childress; two sisters, Taryn Simpson and Nelda Stone; numerous grand children: and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
