Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Heitman died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at his home.
He was born on March 21, 1938, to Joe J. and Maurice Scarborough Heitman in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He attended junior high school in South America and moved to Cameron where he graduated from C.H. Yoe High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Loretta Jane Taylor on Jan. 10, 1969. He worked in the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake Jackson Police Department, before becoming a game warden for Jefferson County for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years of Cameron; a daughter, Donna Smith of Port Arthur; a brother, Jerry Heitman of Cameron; a sister, Cheryl Synatzski of Cotulla; his mother of Cameron; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
