Burial will follow in Temple Garden of Memories Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Gantt died Saturday, Nov. 22, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Aug. 6, 1931, to Frank and Minnie Gantt in Wagner, S.C. He was educated in the Akines public school system. He later attended Temple College. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He married Bernice Bruton on Feb. 5, 1959. He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army, with the rank of E-7. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years. He was a member of Waymon Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served as a Trustee.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years of Temple; a daughter, Laverne Nettles of Lawton, Okla.; and a brother, Levon Gantt of Roswell, Ga.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday at Branford/Dawson Funeral Home in Temple.
