Mrs. Horton died Thursday, Nov. 27, in a Temple nursing home,
She was born June 16, 1919, in Temple to Frank F. Bartek and Anna Sivec Bartek. She attended elementary school in Little Flock and graduated from Temple High School. She obtained a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and taught at Gatesville State School for Boys for 20 years. She retired in 1970. She married Robert E. Horton on Aug. 4, 1942, in Delray Beach, Fla. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for more than 60 years and was a longtime member of the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 24, 2002, and by a son, Robert Michael Horton, on Feb. 11, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Philip Horton of Atlanta, Ga., and William Horton of Temple; a daughter, Patricia Horton of San Antonio; two sisters, Evelyn Wells of Temple and Anna Lois Kasberg of Bastrop; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Monday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.
