Mr. Kitching died Monday, Dec. 1, in a Temple hospital.
He was born March 31, 1920, near Rogers to Karl Knox Kitching and Janie Murl Mosley Kitching. He served as a seaman in the Merchant Marines for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a self-employed rancher for several years and was a lifelong resident of Bell and Milam counties.
His first wife, Dorothy Kitching, preceded him in death in 1956; and his second wife, Clara Berry Kitching, preceded him in death in 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Kitching of Charleston, W.Va., David Kitching of Buckholts; a sister, Olive Landelle Hill of Temple; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
