Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
CSM Adams died Tuesday, Dec. 2, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1931, to Elvis and Kathryn Adams in Gideon, Mo. He was raised in Gideon and joined the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal; the Army Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters; the National Defense Service Medal with bronze star; the Good Conduct Medal 9th award; the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany). He retired in 1978 at Fort Hood. He then went to work for Beneficial Finance Company as a loan officer and assistant manager, retiring after 14 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 223.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Adams of Killeen; two sons, Richard J. Adams Jr., of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Rodney J. Adams of Killeen; a daughter, Melody Ann Wilson of Harker Heights; a sister, Carol Murphy of Clarkton, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
