The body was cremated.
Mr. Cannon died Tuesday, Dec. 9, at a Temple hospital.
He was born June 2, 1923, to William and Bessie Cannon in Gilmore, Idaho. He graduated from Salmon High School and received bachelor’s degrees from the University of Idaho and Louisiana Tech University. He received his master’s degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941. He served during World War II and the Korean War. He moved to Central Texas after the war. He worked for a Buick dealership in Belton and then opened Service Insurance in Killeen.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Cannon of Belton; a son, Jack Cannon of San Angelo; a daughter, Mary Lou Helseth of Evergreen, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Belton or to Scott & White Memorial Hospital.
