The evening dedicated to celebrating the arts takes place on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Azalee Marshall Cultural Activities Center, 3011 N. Third Street in Temple.
Publicity Chair Regina Baird said there are many ways community members can have fun and help the CAC at the same time.
Tickets to an evening of dinner, dancing and fabulous live and silent auctions are $75 per person. Tables of eight are available for $800. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction. Dinner, catered by the Range, will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a live auction, dancing and live entertainment
One of many highlights of the Gala are the “Sign-Up Parties” where bidders choose a party, sign their names to the list, pay, and then sit back and enjoy the evening. The rest is done for the winner.
Another is the chance item.
This year’s raffle item is a necklace slide featuring a chocolate pear-shaped 31.15 ct. quartz. Crafted by designer John Muro, the 14K yellow and white gold custom-designed slide is highlighted by round brilliant-cut diamonds with a combined weight of 1.25 ct. It was donated by John’s Jewelry and Repair, John Muro, manager Fran Jacques and past presidents of the Contemporaries.
Tickets for the chance item are available for $10 or three for $25.
They are available from any Contemporaries member, at The RoseBud or by calling the CAC. The winner will be drawn at the Gala but does not need to be present to win.
Information about the items that have been donated by individuals and businesses in support of the Cultural Activities Center will be available in the Gala catalog.
Proceeds from the Gala support the continuation of the arts in Temple and Central Texas through CAC programs. After the January 2008 Gala, Contemporaries donated $78,000 to the CAC.
Since the Contemporaries began a gala-type fundraiser back in 1975, the group has donated more than $1.64 million to the CAC.
Gala catalogs with invitations and reply cards should appear in mailboxes soon, Ms. Baird said. Anyone who does not receive an invitation, but would like to attend should call the CAC at 773-9926.
