Val Monteblo, a yard maintenance worker with the Temple Housing Authority, removes trash from around the Jonathan Moore Housing Complex on Monday. “Jackets, layers of jackets and a thermos of coffee keeps me warm,” Monteblo said. Overnight temperatures were expected to reach the 20s, which is the lowest of the fall season so far with only five days remaining until winter begins, KCEN-TV Meteorologist Lynae Miyer said. Freezing rain and sleet were possible and could leave some icy patches on the roadways for motorists to contend with this morning, Ms. Miyer said. Highs today are expected to reach 42 degrees with the possibility of freezing rain or sleet before noon. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s. Make sure to bring in any delicate plants and animals, and to cover pipes to prevent freezing. A warm-up is expected by the end of the week that will bring afternoon highs into the 70s.
