For the last 32 years, David Zychek’s annual Holiday Show has been one of those events.
“We do it every year and it has just turned into this amazing event,” Zychek said. “We’ve found it’s become this great big reunion for people.”
During most of those events, Zychek brought his cornucopia of artists to the legendary Sefcik Hall; however, this year’s event will take place at the Lone Star Sports Bar & Grill in Temple on Dec. 27. Admission is $7 for 21 and older and $10 for 18-20.
“We’re going to be able to accommodate about the same number of people,” Zychek said about the venue change.
The Groove Kings have performed at the holiday bash since its beginning in the late 1970s and will open this year’s show. Groove Kings members are Gary Pavlica on drums and vocals, San Davis on bass and vocals and Zychek on guitar and vocals.
“The original guys will kick off the show,” Zychek said. “This band always had a huge following in the Central Texas region and returns for possibly one of their best productions in years.”
Zychek’s son, Nathan, and brother, Scott, will perform in the next set.
The two sets will include “a lot of the classic rock standards, songs that we’ve played over a 30-year span like Pink Floyd, the Beatles and Cheap Trick,” Zychek said.
The final set of the night will be an all-star tribute to the Beatles. The set will include 14 songs from the albums “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club” and “Abbey Road.”
The five hour show will also include special guests Kyle Pilgrim and Ray Ramsey from the group Texas; Rick Turnpaugh from Crash Landing; Randy Ryan on keyboards and backing vocalists Girl at the Turnstile with April Arnold, Janisue Zajicek and Andra Simpson.
