Mr. Shifflett died Wednesday, Dec. 24, in Temple.
He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Colorado City, Texas. He married Betty Gavit on June 26, 1955, in Sweetwater. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years of Troy; two sons, Michael Shifflett and Brad Shifflett, both of Troy; a daughter, Liza Gonzales of Abilene; two brothers, Floyd Shifflett and Billy Shifflett, both of Sweetwater; two sisters, Peggy Franklin of Sweetwater and Ethelin Shifflett of South Carolina; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
