Donald Elmer Ude

BELTON — Retired Chaplain Col. Donald Elmer Ude, 75, of Belton died Friday, Dec. 26, at his home.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove with the Rev. John Heckmann and Dr. Wilbert Sohns officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Ude was born Nov. 11, 1933, to Elmer F. and Vera Eggers Ude in Hollywood, Calif. He married Audrey Seggebruch on Sept. 1, 1957, in Watseka, Ill. He graduated from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kan.; and Concordia Seminary in Clayton, Mo. He was ordained in 1958 as a Lutheran minister. He served more than 23 years in the U.S. Army. He began his pastoral career at St. John Lutheran Church in Cypress, then at Grace Lutheran Church in Killeen and finally at Faith Lutheran Church in Lampasas.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years of Belton; a son, Michael Ude of Pineville, La.; two daughters, Virginia Rincon of Belton and Susan Freshley of New Llano, La.; a brother, Roger Ude of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Luella Rubino of Capistrano Beach, Calif., and Donna Beltran of Anaheim, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, 220 The Grove Road, Gatesville, TX 76528 or to Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO. 63105.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton.
